Praise Systems

Introduction

Over the last few years, schools have been investigating ways to raise achievement amongst pupils. The rewarding of good or improved behaviour, recognition of a particular piece of good work, the completion and handing in of homework, improved or consistent punctual timekeeping, demonstrating good manners towards staff and other pupils, getting actively involved in School life or continued wearing of school uniform are all elements to address in the overall raising of achievement.

To keep track and measure such diverse individual pupil performances, a system that is straight forward, easy to implement and manage, and of course, involves pupils' parents in a system that must be looked at seriously.

The Homework Diary Company have drawn on our experience in dealing and listening to our customers and we have come up with, what we believe, is the most cost effective way to help your pupils raise achievement and fulfil their potential.

The Concept

1. Each of your teachers are issued with a rubber stamp, with your School crest and an individual identification number on it.
2. Each pupil is issued with a booklet which consists of sequentially numbered grids.
3. Each time a pupil meets certain agreed criteria, the class Teacher uses the rubber stamp and stamps a sequentially numbered box within the pupils Booklet.
4. When the pupil reaches an agreed number of stamps, a bronze praise card is issued and sent to the pupil's home. When a further threshold is reached, a silver praise card is issued and when an even higher threshold is achieved a gold card is then sent.
5. At the end of the School Year, a certificate is issued to each qualifying pupil, detailing what they have achieved.
6. The School has total control over the criteria of the issuing of stamps, threshold levels of qualification for praise cards and the issuing of certificates.

Q. Why have the Teacher's stamps got an individual identification number?
A. For security and tracking purposes

Q. We have something similar in place at the moment, can I just order certificates?
A. Of course, you can order any of the products on an ad-hoc basis.

Q. Can we tailor your system to our own particular needs?

Q. Are the praise cards and certificates just standard or can we compose the wording ourselves?
A. It's a standard layout but you can choose the wording.
